About Hibernia Venture Labs

Hibernia Venture Labs is a venture group headquartered in Ireland, operating across the UK, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Serbia, Egypt, and footprints in the GCC and US, all through subcos with their own distinct brands and management teams. Through its advisory, technology, product, and laboratory divisions, we build, invest in, and accelerate technology companies. We are looking for a Junior Product Designer to join our growing team and contribute to product design across our portfolio and internal platforms.

The Role

As a Junior Product Designer, you will work closely with product managers, engineers, and senior designers to create intuitive, well-crafted user experiences across Hibernia Venture Labs' customers, product suite and portfolio companies. You will be involved in the full design lifecycle, from early research and ideation through to high-fidelity UI delivery and design system maintenance.

We are an AI-native team. You will be expected to use AI-powered tools as a core part of your workflow, from generative design exploration with Claude and other large language models to automated prototyping, content generation, and design critique. This is not a nice-to-have; it is how we work.

This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who has strong design fundamentals, genuine curiosity about how products work, and a willingness to learn fast in a venture environment where no two weeks look the same.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of web and mobile applications across Hibernia Venture Labs' internal platforms and portfolio companies
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs in Figma
  • Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney, and similar) to accelerate ideation, content drafting, design exploration, and iteration cycles
  • Support and maintain design systems in Figma, ensuring consistency across products and divisions
  • Leverage productivity and automation tools to streamline repetitive design and documentation tasks
  • Participate in user research activities including interviews, usability testing, and feedback synthesis
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and efficiently
  • Present design work to internal stakeholders, articulating decisions clearly
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis to inform design direction
  • Contribute to design documentation, style guides, and component libraries
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback, data, and usability findings
  • Stay current with design trends, AI-assisted design workflows, and emerging productivity tools

Requirements

Essential

  • Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design and UX thinking (academic, personal, or professional projects all welcome)
  • Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, variants, and prototyping
  • Demonstrated familiarity with AI-powered design and productivity tools, particularly Claude and/or other large language models, for tasks such as content generation, design critique, research synthesis, or workflow automation
  • Experience using productivity enhancement tools (e.g. Notion, Linear, Miro, FigJam, or equivalent) to organise work and collaborate asynchronously
  • Understanding of core UX principles: hierarchy, spacing, typography, colour theory, and accessibility basics
  • Ability to create user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with shifting priorities
  • Attention to detail and a genuine interest in craft
  • A collaborative mindset with openness to feedback

Desirable

  • Experience with Figma design systems, tokens, or component-based design at scale
  • Familiarity with AI image generation tools (Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion) for concept exploration and asset creation
  • Experience using Claude or similar LLMs for structured design tasks such as UX copy, heuristic evaluation, or accessibility audits
  • Familiarity with front-end concepts (HTML, CSS, responsive design) sufficient to communicate effectively with developers
  • Exposure to user research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing)
  • Experience with motion/interaction design or micro-animations
  • Understanding of B2B SaaS product patterns
  • Interest in AI, venture capital, or deep tech

What we offer

  • Opportunity to work across multiple products and industries within a venture portfolio
  • Mentorship from senior designers, product leaders, and technologists
  • Exposure to the full product lifecycle, from zero-to-one builds to scaling existing platforms
  • Access to best-in-class AI and design tooling
  • A collaborative, low-ego culture that values ideas over titles
  • Flexible working arrangements (remote-first with hybrid options)
  • Competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience
